Eyes of the Stone Thief

A Bard's Tale

The Cave

With great ambition our heroes entered the hell cave.
It was hot and smelled of brimstone.
The cave was lit by a lake of lava.
It separated the heroes from reaching the other side.
A single stone bridge rose up from the lava as if it was floating.
Was it a trap?
Not seeing another way across, they began to traverse the bridge.
As they jumped from stone to stone,
some would give way and sink into the lava and others would remain solid.
One of the heroes nearly fell in,
hung on a ledge, just barely clinging to life.
Fortunately she was saved with the help of the others.
But watch out!
It was as if the lake opened up an vomited out hell spawn.
Our heroes came under siege by orcs!
The orcs, conveyed by boats of metal,
wielding red hot iron pokers and hooks on chains they came.
The heroes were pelted by javelins and snared by chains.
as fierce as the orcs seemed they did not stand up to the power our heroes possessed.
As soon as they had arrived their chieftain was torn apart by druidic magic,
and the others were butchered by knives and spells.
The orcs were forced to flee.
Once safely across the lake,
the heroes recuperated and pressed onward.
Confronted by a demonic door, inscribed with runes.
Written in tongues from the Abyss,
they spelled our doom should be decide to enter.
But fortune favored our heroes,
as one of them spotted a hidden tunnel.
Following the tunnel, it opened up into a massive chasm.
In front of the heroes there stood a castle wall,
raising out of ground inside the chasm.
The castle was manned with more orc!
Will there be any respite from these monstrous creatures?
